December Month of the Rat! Squeak Squeak!

Winter is upon us! Have you ever noticed that December’s energy is counter intuitive? The snow begins to fall and we all bundle up, hunker down and settle in for the long winter. On the other hand, it always flies by with family parties, friend gatherings, and of course shopping for the holidays! It’s because December is the Month of the Rat! The Rat is the first animal in the Zodiac and represents new beginnings, and in the western calendar, December is the last month of the year.

This can lead to a lot of confusion! Instead of setting intentions for the year in January, I use December as my strategy month for the year ahead. This helps to bring clarity and a jumpstart to my plans for the year ahead.

The Rat is the Zodiac Animal of intelligence. Its brain is the only defense it has against the world and predators. So it always has a strategy. Its natural element is water. Water is the Element that feeds and supports Wood which is the element of the month. The past couple of months have been emotional with all of the high water energy. This month with wood coming in, we can now use the emotional energy and funnel it into our creative projects! Wood is the power of creativity and connection with others. So connect with people this month! However, Wood is the element that represents anger, so avoid touchy subjects especially with Mercury retrograde foremost of December.

Sagittarius Season is off to a great start bringing the fun and whimsical side to the Holiday Season. Sadge is also a fire sign so it tends to drum up some drama as well. Don’t take the bait! Let’s keep things low key with all of the crazy things going on in the world. The Sun moves into Capricorn on December 22nd bringing earth and stability.

The New Moon in Sagittarius is on the 12th bringing new ideas, adventures and philosophies to the surface. Take a look at your chart to see where 20 degrees Sagittarius is to find out what house this energy is activating for you! Make sure to listen to others’ ideas as well as explaining yours because the moon is squaring Neptune and inconjunct Uranus which is confusing and unexpected. So best to resolve difficult conversations in the New Year.

The Full Moon in Cancer on the 26th brings a sense of release to negative emotions surrounding family resentments and insecurity. This is a great day to hang at home and chill with people that you love. This is a fabulous moon to charge up your crystal and create moon water!

Mercury the God of Communication entered the sign of Capricorn brings a get things done kind of attitude. Use that energy as much as you can until it retrogrades on the 13th. For all of you business owners out there, this retrograde cycle will be excellent for revisiting projects pertaining to your business structures, websites, money systems, business cards, etc. Mercury will dip back into Sadge for the last week in December bringing some arguments and drama. So again, don’t take the bait! Mercury stations direct on Jan. 2nd.

Venus the Goddess of beauty and plenty leaves her peaceful home sign of Libra on the 4th and enters Scorpio. She feels cranky in this sign but does bring opportunities to those of you with a Sun and Venus in Scorpio. Single Scorpios, this is a month to go on dates! Happy hunting! For the collective, this phase brings a sense of looking at our relationships and finding deep connections. You might have to travel to the underworld to uncover things, but as if you do it hand in hand, you’ll come back stronger than before!

Mars is transiting the fiery Sagittarius this month! This combo brings a lot of action! Mars enjoys being over zealous in this sign but brings frustration to the collective this month. Remain cool. Calm and Collected with alarming news that is possible to disrupt things.

Jupiter continues retrograde through Taurus, bringing up cycles that began in May and shining a light on what you need to revisit when it comes to finances and attracting abundance. Jupiter stations direct on the 31st!

Saturn reenters the early degrees on Pisces and cycles that began in March of 2023 shining a light on restriction and responsibility around your spiritual practice and connecting to the divine. What are you doing daily to connect?

Uranus continues retrograde in Taurus reminding us that the financial world is changing and will never look the way it used to. Use this time to rethink investments and how you want to move forward in the new financial climate.

Neptune stations direct on the 6th to continue moving through the final degrees of its home sign Pisces. Neptune has had a powerful impact as it has been in Pisces. Illuminating the good, bad, and very ugly in the world of organized religion. Neptune will continue to shine a light on all of that and more until 2025 when it moves into fiery Aries!

Pluto the God of Death and Rebirth is moving forward in Capricorn where it will stay till January when it moves into Aquarius. Pluto will dance between the signs Capricorn and Aquarius through 2024 until Pluto moves into Aquarius in November of 2024 where it will stay until 2044.
